Support Without Live-in Care, Delivered at Home

Group Adult Foster Care (GAFC) is a MassHealth program that provides in-home support for individuals who need help with daily living but don’t require a live-in caregiver. Members receive regular visits from a direct care aide, along with ongoing nursing oversight and care management to support their health, safety, and independence at home.

To qualify for Group Adult Foster Care, a few basic requirements apply:

MassHealth Eligibility

Must have MassHealth Standard or another qualifying plan that covers foster care services.

Need for Daily Living Support

Requires assistance with activities like bathing, dressing, mobility, or managing daily routines safely at home.

Living at Home or in the Community

Lives in a private home or apartment setting without the need for full-time, live-in care.

How do caregivers get paid?

Caregivers receive a monthly tax-free stipend. The amount depends on the member’s care needs and is calculated using a daily rate.
